Further to our previous statement of 23 June, together with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Snooker, we have since continued to seek further clarification from both the Department for Media Culture and Sport and the Sports Minister’s office in respect of the proposed re-opening of snooker clubs in the UK.

Coronavirus to halt current season
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation in the country and In line with government advice, especially with pubs, clubs, restaurants etc closing, the current season is to be suspended with immediate effect until further notice.

Following discussions between various parties which included the host venue The Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, it can be announced that the second qualifying event tomorrow WILL take place as planned.

Yorkshire billiards competitions
The Yorkshire billiards championship is on the 5 April at Cue Gardens, entry fee £15.
The billiards handicap is on the 17 May £12 entry and is also at Cue Gardens.
Whaley makes it through on two fronts
The second qualifying event for the Yorkshire Snooker Handicap took place at the Halifax Snooker Centre with Michael Whaley making it through his group to make the final stages, only a week after qualifying for the quarter finals of the Yorkshire Snooker Championships.

Defending Champion eases through to Quarter Finals
Four time defending champion Johnathan Bagley from Leeds made light work of qualifying from event 1 at The Northern Snooker Centre for the quarter finals of the Yorkshire Snooker Championships, getting through his 3 matches all with a 3-0 score line.

With the Inter District Billiards League falling by the wayside last year due to a number of teams dropping out due to unforeseen circumstances, it was vital that a competition was implemented to ensure a continuity of Billiard competition between the district teams.
