Yorkshire Snooker Championships Qualifier 2.
Today’s second qualifying event in this year’s Yorkshire Snooker Championship saw 36 hopefuls line up to battle it out for the remaining 8 qualifying spots. The successful players were as follows-
1. Sanderson Lam (Leeds)
First player through at around 13:45, Sanderson defeated Adam Tollerfield 3(55)-0 before recording the days only century break in another 3 (107,76) – 0 win over Daniel Boyes.
2. Jonathan Bagley (Leeds)
Sanderson was closely followed by current title holder Jonathan Bagley, who recorded wins over Mark Ball 3(56)-0 and Andrew Gater 3-1 to keep alive his hopes of retaining the title.
3. Malcolm Bilclough (Leeds)
Third to qualify at around 14:00, Malcolm had wins over Danny Dean 3(61,52)-1 and Mick Jensen 3-0.
4. Gareth Green (Bradford)
Next through without the loss of a frame at around 14:10 was Gareth Green with wins over Dave French 3-0, and Liam Barlow 3(92)-0.
5. Anthony Massey (Leeds)
Tony Massey was next to qualify at 14:30, a 3-0 win over Bradley Andrews was followed by a tight 3-2 victory over Lee Hart.
6. Wayne Cooper (Bradford)
Wayne Cooper was next through at around 14:35, a 3(56,64)-0 win over Dave Boyes was followed by a 3(59)-1 win over Samuel Lee-Stevens.
7. David Birley (Sheffield)
Drawn in the preliminary round, David had to win 3 matches to get through and by 15.20 he had achieved that feat, defeating Vladislav Gradinari 3-0, Chris Hall 3(54)-0 and finally last year’s runner up Lewis Gillen 3-0.
8. Martin Lawrence (Sheffield)
Last player through at 15:30, Martin had wins over Tommy Doherty 3-2 and Andrew Owen 3-0 to gain the last qualification place.
