Harrogate league players are to the fore in the first Yorkshire Championship qualifier.
The Harrogate Snooker league had representatives in all 4 final qualifying matches in the first qualifying day in this years Yorkshire Snooker Championship.
First player through was Gyles Behbood who defeated Huddersfield’s Conrad Norcliffe 3-1 in the qualifying match having earlier beaten Daniel McKenna 3(74,55)-0 and ex pro Kuldesh Johal 3-2.
The second Harrogate player through was Callum Waite who had a 96 break (missing the blue for a ton) in a 3-1 victory over Jason Evans-Bates. Waite had earlier despatched Tommy Doherty 3-0, Adam Clarke 3(67)-1 and Glen Cassidy 3-1.
In the third qualifying tie, Harrogate’s Kaif Shazad had a titanic struggle with Leeds player Adam Rennison. The match went to the deciding frame, and with the lead changing hands several times it was a relieved Rennison who finally potted the pink to edge himself over the line. Rennison having had earlier 3-0 wins over Vic Craven and Adam Prince.
In the last match to finish it was last years runner up Dan Womersley who overcame Harrogate’s Tom Harris 3-2. Womersley had breaks of 97,89,86,81,67,56,54 and 51 in his 4 victories throughout the day.
