Liam Pullen and Dan Womersley reach Snooker Championship Final

York’s Liam Pullen and Dan Womersley from Leeds won their way to the final of this year’s Snooker Championship at the Northern Snooker Centre (Final Date TBC).

In the quarter finals Dan had a convincing win over Sheffield’s David Birley, winning 4-0 in just over an hour with 4 breaks over 50. Frame scores- 74(54)-22, 108(56)-7, 64(57)-6, 75(70)-9.

Next through was Liam, breaks of 67 and 89 helping him to 4-1 victory over Michael Whaley. Frame Scores 72(67) -10, 14-88, 70-34, 89(89)-0, 77-22.

Reigning Yorkshire Champion Gary Milne had a tough 4-1 battle with 15 years old Daniel Boyes. No breaks of note with every frame closely contested. Frame Scores 28-64, 55-39, 67-29, 60-48, 62-39.

Last quarter final to finish was Simon Bedford against Craig Butler. In a match lasting over 3 hours it was Bedford who finally emerged victorious, overcoming a 41-point deficit to win 4-3 on the final Pink, Frame Scores-77(77)-10, 26-63, 0-81(81), 70-26, 0-41, 65-24, 50-41.

In the semis, Womersley continued his fine form, defeating current champion Gary Milne 4-0 aided by a break of 74. Frame Scores-55-17, 74(74)-1, 77-33, 62-54.

In the second semi-final Pullen proved too strong for Simon Bedford, breaks of 61,63 and a magnificent 107 clearance helping him to a 4-1 victory. Frame Scores 106(61)-36, 77(63)-46, 79-39, 30-65, 122(107)-7.
