Inter District Round-Up
It was another busy weekend in the Inter District league with all 16 teams in action.
Sheffield “2” strengthened their lead at the top of Division 1 with a 6-0 home win against Ossett. Duane Beckett(72), James Dabell and Shaun Wilkes all starred for the home side.
Brighouse moved up to joint second spot with a 6-0 home victory against a Leeds “1” side who only fielded 2 players. Craig Butler (87) and Michael Whaley (69,63) made sure they left empty-handed.
The other team in joint second, Sheffield “1” had a fine 4-2 win away at Wharfedale. Lee Postill and Jason Evans -Bates put Sheffield in command before Gyles Behbood (69,50) hit back for Wharfedale.
The fourth tie of the round saw Castleford win 4-2 away at Leeds “2”. Danny Waite got the home side off to a winning start before Pete Raby and Andrew Houlker secured the win for Cas.
So after 5 rounds Sheffield “2” have a 4 point advantage over Sheffield “1” and Brighouse.
Jason Evans-Bates heads the MVP list with 8 wins from 10, Lewis Harper has the high break with 89.
In Division 2 , league leaders Harrogate “1” won 4-2 away at Bradford. Shab Ditta was the difference between the teams, Hanif Rafiq chipping in with a 58 break for Bradford.
Second-placed Sheffield “3” also won 4-2 away at Harrogate “2”. Reece Matin won both points for Sheffield.
Wakefield finally broke their duck with a 4-2 win away at Huddersfield “2”, Danny Edginton starring for Wakey.
Huddersfield “1” completed the clean sweep for the away teams with a 5-1 win at Halifax. Conrad Norcliffe and Robert Read doing the damage.
After 5 rounds Kaif Shazad (9/10) heads the MVP list, Robert Read has the high break with 83.
The next round of matches is on the weekend of Dec 7/8.
