Liam Pullen is 2022/23 Yorkshire Champion.
In what was his last match as an amateur for a couple of years at least, York’s Liam Pullen defeated NSC club mate Dan Womersley 4-1 in the final of this seasons Yorkshire Snooker Singles Championship.
In front of a packed out NSC, it was Dan who settled first, gaining a 26-point lead before Liam responded with a 40 break. It was level with one red remaining and Dan had first chance to seal the frame but missed a straightforward Brown off its spot and Liam stepped up to clear to Pink to win the frame 60(40)-45.
Liam then made it 2-0, breaks of 37 and 35 giving him a 72 (37,35)-1 victory.
Dan came to life in the third, a 42 break, which ended with a kick, was followed shortly after by a superb 79 clearance to give him the frame 18-121(42,79).
The momentum was now with Dan and on 18 he smashed into the pack and split the reds nicely only then to miss the next red, allowing Liam to stem the tide with a 62 break and regain his two frame advantage 72(62)-19.
After a short interval it was Liam again who was in the ascendancy, a run of 49 putting him on the brink of victory, and when Dan unluckily went in off the last red Liam secured the frame 83(49)-23 and with it the match 4-1 and the Yorkshire Singles title.
Congratulations to Liam and best of luck as he now starts his fledgling professional career.
Many thanks to referee Andy Kitson, marker Arnold Greenwood and of course our sponsors the NSC.
