Yorkshire Presentation Evening and Snooker Final

The prestigious Snooker final between defending champion from Leeds, Peter Lines, and Huddersfield’s Robert Read will be held at Northern Snooker Centre on Friday 4th July 2025

This will be a cracking final, so get in early to book your seat with the final starting at 7.30 pm

This season’s presentation will commence shortly after the match.

Harrogate “1” seal Division 2 title

Harrogate “1” seal Division 2 title.

A 4-2 home victory over Bradford in round 12 proved enough for Harrogate “1” to claim this season’s Division 2 title.
Huddersfield “1” have already played their last match against Sheffield “3” and cannot now catch Harrogate (this result will not be added to the website until the scheduled date).
Callum Waite (50 break) gained both points for Harrogate.

Second-placed Huddersfield “1” also won 4-2 at home against Halifax. Rob Read (69 break) scored both points for the home side, and Johnny Gallagher chipped in with a run of 69.

Sheffield “3” lost 4-2 at home to Harrogate “2”, Liam Mills proving the difference between the sides.

In the last match Wakefield and Huddersfield “2” fought out a 3-3 draw, Danny Edginton putting Wakefield in front, Dan Crines hitting back for Huddersfield.

Yorkshire Snooker Championship Results

Read between the Lines!

Holder Peter Lines will play Huddersfield’s Robert Read in this year’s Yorkshire Snooker final (date tbc).

Lines was first through to the final after defeating Callum Waite 4(66,75,94)-0 and Josh Walker 4(53)-1(57). Read reached the final without the loss of a frame, beating Adam Rennison 4-0 and Shaun Wilkes 4(80)-0.

Leaders Sheffield “2” had a bye at the weekend, second placed Brighouse taking advantage with a fine 5-1 victory at Leeds “1”. Craig Butler and Andrew Owen taking maximum points, Michael Whaley with a 54 break. Lewis Harper had a run of 63 for Leeds.

Castleford and Leeds “2” fought out a 3-3 draw, and in the third match, Sheffield “1” defeated Wharfedale 5-1, David Whitby and Jason Evans-Bates on target for Sheffield.

The top 2 teams, Sheffield “2” and Brighouse, clash in the penultimate round of matches next month in what could be the title decider.

Yorkshire Championship Q2 Round-Up

After 9 hours of snooker the final 4 qualifiers for this years Yorkshire Snooker Championship were decided yesterday at the NSC.
First player through was last year’s winner Peter Lines, comfortable victories against Craig Nicholson, Gavin Godfree and Michael Whaley seeing him into this years quarter-finals.
Next player through was South Yorkshire’s Shaun Wilkes who despatched Lionel Payne, Scott Sigsworth and Dave Pagett along the way.
Bradford’s Josh Walker took the third quarter-final spot, coming from behind to beat Mike Lucas in the final qualifying match. Walker had earlier beaten Chris Hart, Chris Cooke and James Dabell.
The last qualifying spot went to Huddersfield’s Robert Read. Read battled past Steve Peace, Tony Massey and Jake Crofts before facing Gary Milne in the last match of the day. Milne had earlier had breaks of 104,62,53,59 and 95 in his 3 victories and when he took a 2-1 lead against Read he looked on course to be going through. Read had other ideas though, and he levelled at 2-2 before a superb 58 break in the decider gave him the match.

Sheffield “2” moved 2 points clear with a game in hand at the top of division 1 after a 5-1 home win over Castleford, Will Lemons (54,59) and Shaun Wilkes on target.

Wharfedale and Leeds “1” fought out a 3-3 draw, Gyles Behbood (62) and Lewis Harper (51) chipping in with breaks.

In a match played a week early, Brighouse and Sheffield “1” ended 3-3, Michael Whaley (96) and Jason Evans-Bates (69) catching the eye.

Whaley’s break now leads the race for the high break prize, Gyles Behbood (11/14) leads the MVP table.

In division 2, Harrogate “1” maintained a 10 point lead after a 4-2 win at Halifax. Kaif Shazad (63,87) and Tom Harris starring for Harrogate, Lionel Payne replying for Fax.

Bradford and Huddersfield “1” finished 3-3, Boover Singh putting the home side in front before Robert Read replied for Huddersfield.

Wakefield had a fine 5-1 away win at Harrogate “2”, Danny Edginton and Matt Samples gaining maximum points.

The last match finished in a 6-0 whitewash for Sheffield “3” at Huddersfield “2”, Dave Manuel, Dave Pagett and Reece Matin doing the damage.

Kaif Shazad and Johnny Gallagher are tied for the high break prize with 87, Shazad heads the MVP race with 18/22.

Harrogate league players are to the fore in the first Yorkshire Championship qualifier

Harrogate league players are to the fore in the first Yorkshire Championship qualifier.

The Harrogate Snooker league had representatives in all 4 final qualifying matches in the first qualifying day in this years Yorkshire Snooker Championship.

First player through was Gyles Behbood who defeated Huddersfield’s Conrad Norcliffe 3-1 in the qualifying match having earlier beaten Daniel McKenna 3(74,55)-0 and ex pro Kuldesh Johal 3-2.

The second Harrogate player through was Callum Waite who had a 96 break (missing the blue for a ton) in a 3-1 victory over Jason Evans-Bates. Waite had earlier despatched Tommy Doherty 3-0, Adam Clarke 3(67)-1 and Glen Cassidy 3-1.

In the third qualifying tie, Harrogate’s Kaif Shazad had a titanic struggle with Leeds player Adam Rennison. The match went to the deciding frame, and with the lead changing hands several times it was a relieved Rennison who finally potted the pink to edge himself over the line. Rennison having had earlier 3-0 wins over Vic Craven and Adam Prince.

In the last match to finish it was last years runner up Dan Womersley who overcame Harrogate’s Tom Harris 3-2. Womersley had breaks of 97,89,86,81,67,56,54 and 51 in his 4 victories throughout the day.

Top of the table, Harrogate “1” was held 3-3 at home by bottom team Huddersfield “2” but still hold a 9-point lead after 10 rounds. Harrogate’s Callum Waite joined teammate Kaif Shazad at the top of the MVP list, gaining both points after Saood Nawab had put the visitors in front.

There was another draw at Wakefield. Allen Slingsby put Halifax in front before Gary Hambleton levelled for the home side. Danny Edginton chipped in with a run of 64 for Wakefield.

Huddersfield “1” were too good for Harrogate “2” gaining a 5-1 win. Robert Read (74) and Conrad Norcliff starred for Huddersfield.

In the last match Sheffield “3” had a fine 5-1 victory over Bradford. Reece Matin and Dave Pagett gaining maximum points.

Round 11 is on the weekend of 8/9 March

Yorkshire Snooker Singles Championship

Yorkshire Snooker Singles Championship

We have a total of 86 entries for this year’s Yorkshire Snooker Championship, which encouragingly is slightly up on previous years.

There are 42 entries on the 1st qualifying day on 2nd March and 44 on the 2nd qualifying day on 16th March.

The first 16 matches on each day will start at 10:00 with subsequent matches starting when tables become free.

Players are asked to register by 9:45. If you are running late or cannot make it on the day please let me know by text on 07540539082.

The usual dress code applies so no jeans, t-shirts or trainers please.

All matches on qualifying days will be best of 5 with 4 players from each day progressing to the quarter-finals on 6th April.

There will be a re-draw at the quarter-final stage.
