Peter Lines is 2024 Yorkshire Snooker Champion

Peter Lines is the 2024 Yorkshire Snooker Champion

Peter Lines defeated Northern Snooker Centre clubmate Dan Womersley 4-1 in last night’s Yorkshire Snooker final.

The first frame was a scrappy affair, a missed pink off the spot proving costly for Womersley as contributions of 31 and 25 gave the frame to Lines 70-28. Lines then moved up a gear and a brilliant 108 clearance (108-5) was followed by a run of 82 (87-1)to give him a 3-0 lead at the interval.

After the break, Womersley came out determined to show what he could do and a break of 73 gave him the fourth frame (0-79).

The next was much closer and approaching the colours it was anybody’s frame. A nicely laid snooker on the Green put Womersley in trouble and after the third attempt, the Green was hit but left over the pocket. Lines stepped up and cleared Green to Pink to take the frame 62-34 and the match 4-1.

Congratulations to Peter Lines on his fourth Yorkshire Snooker title. He holds the unique distinction of winning the title each time he has entered, having been ineligible to enter for most of his career whilst in the Pro ranks.

Many thanks to Julian Bell for refereeing, Arnold Greenwood for marking and of course to our sponsors the Northern Snooker Centre.
