Qualifiers now confirmed
With both qualifying events now complete in the Yorkshire Snooker Championships, at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, the final 8 are now confirmed with defending Champion Johnathon Bagley (Leeds), Michael Whaley (Halifax), Shaun Wilkes (Rotherham), Gary Milne (Scarborough), Ryan Walton (Leeds), David Portman (Sheffield), Richard Binns (Leeds) and James Dabell (Sheffield) all making it through to the latter stages.
3-time Champion Bagley has won the event for the last 2 years running and is again one of the favourites to lift the title, with 2012 Champion Portman looking to add a second title win to his name. The last 8 is a strong line up, James Dabell will fancy his chances after securing one of the wins of the championships so far in defeating 4-time Champion Wayne Cooper, and newcomer Gary Milne impressing in his qualification, edging out Leeds’ Mark Ball to make it through. 2-time finalist Peter Fisher was in red hot form, making breaks of 135 (the highest so far) and 81 to beat Kevin Firth, but Michael Whaley was also in good form and made it through knocking out the Castleford player 3-2 in the decider.
Another to impress early in the qualifiers was Daniel Womersley who made a break of 131 against Lewis Walsh, but came unstuck against Wilkes, who then qualified by beating Craig Dixon. Leeds duo Ryan Walton and Richard Binns came through some tough matches but secured their place for the draw which takes place at the Yorkshire Association meeting on 4th March at Earlesheaton Conservative Club in Dewsbury.
Players are welcome to attend, but the draw will be made available the following day anyway on this site and players informed accordingly.
